Preparing to date: 5 important ways

Preparing to date: 5 important ways

Dating smarter is crucial

I am writing this in between abnormally loud booms from the condo construction site outside my window.  Ordinarily, I’d complain, but in this case it got me thinking…

Buildings don’t just appear, much the way love doesn’t just happen.

In the weeks before the building started to rise, workers were laying a solid foundation.  They were removing weeds, smoothing out the dirt and laying concrete.  All of that in preparation for the tower that will be built on top of the concrete foundation.

Your search for love needs a solid foundation, too.  You need to start preparing to date. That’s where we will begin.

WHY TAKE THE TIME TO LAY A SOLID FOUNDATION?

When I tell my clients that we are going to build a solid foundation for their dating life, their response is almost always, “What!?  I’m ready to date.  That’s why I hired you.  Let’s get started.

There is a difference dating and dating smarter.  The smarter part is crucial.  Preparing to date takes a little time now, but in the long run it will help you date smarter, which saves you time and anxiety.

WE WILL COVER 5 WAYS YOU CAN START PREPARING TO DATE

If you haven’t signed up for the *FREE* STEP-BY STEP GUIDE TO DATING SMARTER AND FINDING LOVE FASTER, then do it right now by writing your name and email address in the boxes on the right sidebar.  You’ll receive five emails all about preparing for dating success.  We will cover:

  • Action Plan – What is it? How do you make one? And how to you use it?
  • Dating Calendar – How is it different from a regular calendar? And how will it prepare you for dating?
  • Needs & Wants – How do you figure out what’s really important to you in a partner?
  • How to decide whether to date neurotypicals or partners with disabilities
  • Setting realistic dating expectations

I know that your life is busy and there are a dozen things competing for your attention.  So I need to ask you for a special favor — one that will help you get started dating smarter.  That favor is to put the time into preparing to date.  Start by:

  • Set aside 10 minutes to read each chapter of this Free Dating Guide that I email to you.  Read it with intention.  Don’t read it standing on a crowded train or while squashed in an elevator.
  • Set aside 15 minutes to work on the skill or aspect of dating that the Free Dating Guide covers. Dating, after all, is a set of skills, and skills can be improved by working on them.
  • Leave questions and comments for your fellow Villagers.  It takes 5 minutes.  Sharing will help you decide what dating strategies are right for you.

QUICK REVIEW

  • If you’re going to look for love, preparing to date is worth your time
